Dave and Laura Part 2!!

Dave and Laura are the best ever! They let me drag them out for a second engagement shoot in the freezing snow! I love this couple to no end. Laura has become an AMAZING friend to me, and Dave just absolutely cracks me up!! They are a perfect compliment to each other and I love getting these private glimpses into their life and relationship. I didn't take very many photographs due to the sub-freezing temperatures, but I absolutely adore what we got! Here are just a few of my favorites!

Dave...being the funny man that he thinks he is (wink wink) thought that I should be a part of the snowfighting activities and almost got me!!

Scott and Julie

Christmas wedding!! Scott and Julie got married at the Holiday Inn here in Crystal Lake to an adorable Christmas theme. The blue that Julie picked was amazing!! I think my favorite part (outside of the glowing bride, the crazy groomsmen and obvious love of the bride and groom) was the dancing. Julie loooves to dance!! Her dress was the perfect dancing dress and spun and twisted right along with her. She and Scott danced their way into the reception, and danced the night away! We didn't have time for an engagement shoot so stay tuned for thier "We Did!" shoot!

Scott and Julie, thank you for giving me the priveledge of photographing your day. I had a great time with you both and can't wait for the next shoot!

Chicago Chicago

Nick and I took our weekend trip to the city this past weekend. We barely thawed from the blizzardy conditions on Saturday and LOVED the weather on Sunday! Chicago has it's own vibe that you can't get anywhere else. Everytime I'm there... it's like coming home. I love it!!

EVERYTHING I see is a photograph in my mind. Even after living there for two years, I never get tired of seeing the exact same things, because it looks different at every hour of the day. There are always less or more people, less or more light, warmer or colder shades, less or more traffic. This city tells 10 different stories of the exact same place every day!

Here are a few more touristy shots...and then one of me and my mister.

It snowed! I can't believe it's the time of year for snow already! I woke up this morning to about 6 inches of snow piled on top of my car :)
There is nothing quite like snow on your face, sloshing through a parking lot, scarves and cold noses
It's hot chocolate season. And that makes me happy!

Catching Up

So! After weeks of learning a really fast (or not so fast...) crash course of HTML editing and CS3 - here's the new blog! Thanks for your patience as I edited. Let me know what you think!

In the last three weeks of no blogging - here is an update!

I have booked a December 22nd wedding! I'm so excited for a Christmas wedding!! Julie and Scott are wonderful people, and I'm really excited to shoot them! They decided that they would rather have a post-wedding shoot instead of an engagement shoot, so I'm gearing up for a Vogue type of shoot in January! I'm really excited about it! Look for thier wedding photos right around Christmas time..

I did a family shoot about 6 weeks ago, and just realized I haven't posted anything for it yet. The Paulsons are great friends of my family and it was fun to take thier photos. Here are a couple of snipits!

I have been immensely blessed to have a second family in my life. I have been best friends with Jenny (you can't miss her..she's the gorgeous brunette) for 17 years now, and have been around the family for longer than the rest of the kids! I've been adopted! They are amazing, loving, giving people and they mean the world to me. My parents used to joke with them about who got to claim me as a dependant on the taxed that year :) I think I slept at Jenny's house at LEAST 3 nights a week growing up. I was able to take some photos for them for Christmas this year and I'm going to take all of the "kids" out individually soon...they just don't know it yet! Here are some of my favorites....

These two wonderful people are my Oma and Opa. They adopted me too as thier grandchild 17 years ago and have loved me to peices ever since then!

That about catches up my life! I'm off to a family dinner at P.F. Changs!

Best Friends

There are three specific women in my life that mean more than the world to me. There are three women that have spent years helping shape who I am. Three women that love me when I'm mad, hold me when I cry, send me flowers at work when I'm having a bad week, encourage me, challenge me, and hold me to a high standard. Three women that are brutally honest when they need to be, humor me when they think I'm off my rocker, and watch hours upon hours of "Friends" with me. Three women that know the deepest parts of who I am, and love me past that. Three women that are my best friends.

These three women are kind, loving, generous, patient, laugh easily, selfless, and let's face it...just all around adorable!

These three women are my sisters.

And this! my amazing nephew. If you want to meet an unbeleivable woman, meet my sister, Gwen. This little guy is a glaring example of the grace, mercy and love of God. I love this little man with my life. He's just about 7 months old now, and just starting to teeth (teethe? He's getting teeth....). He squeals everytime he sees my mom's dog, runs about the house in his walker, adores his Papa (grandpa), giggles everytime you swing him around, and drools all over the place. He is my little man, and I love him!!
His new thing is giving "kisses". His meemaw (grandma) taught him to do it! Everytime you make kissy noises and go to kiss him he opens his mouth and tries to kiss you back! It's so cute!

And this post wouldn't be complete without talking about my man. Nicholas is....**happy sigh*. He is everything. I could talk for hours about this man (ask my sisters!). This is the man I am going to spend the rest of my life with, and everytime I really think about that - I smile uncontrollably.

Jeff and Rebecca

I realized at some point last night that I never posted a show for Jeff and Rebecca! If I had to sum up thier wedding in one word I don't think I could do it. They were so incredibly in love with each other and SO MUCH FUN! Rebecca got ready at the most beautiful hotel in St. Charles and her girls were so energetic and fun. I know every bride has "the glow" but Rebecca absolutely sparkled. Her smile radiated and you couldn't help but be caught up in her excitement! September 29th is historically the most beautiful day of the year, and it lived up to it again this year. It was so perfect!!

This wedding was a little emotional for me, because it really marked the end of my summer shooting with Sarah. I just want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to Sarah for the training, love, energy, advise and time she has poured into me this summer (and over the last year of our amazing friendship!). BethLaurren Photography wouldn't exist without her. Sarah: You are an amazing woman and I'm so grateful for not only your friendship, but for your mentoring. I never thought when I met you last year that we would be at this place just a year later! You have allowed my dream to become a reality. And you have no idea how much that means to me - how much YOU mean to me. Thank you seems trite for what I really want to say to you.

Fall Colors!!

One of my all time favorite times of year is the fall. I am addicted to the explosive colors that come alive in nature. This year has been especially amazing for me because I leave my house about 5:30 every morning and drive to work in deep darkness. BUT! I get to my office, and watch the sun rise every morning through our conference room windows, overlooking the Busse Forest Preserve, O'Hare and the city skyline. I can't explain the beauty of the mist in the preserve hovering through the trees with deep orange's and pink's behind it!

Nick and I went to the Morton Arboretum in Lisle this past weekend. All I had with me was my tiny point and shoot camera, but still managed to get some amazing shots.

Happy Fall everyone!!

Scott and Tatiana

I just realized how long it's been since my last post! I'm definitely way behind on posting photos!

I will re-start my blogging with this amazing shoot with Scott and Tatiana. They are getting married in March, and I absolutely can not wait for their wedding! They are such an incredibly fun couple, and we had a blast shooting! They make each other laugh so easily, and they were just so CUTE! They both attend Olivette Nazerine University and drove up to Naperville for the photos. The riverwalk may be my new favorite place to shoot. It was so pretty and secluded even though it's a public place.

Scott and Tatiana - you compliment each other so well, and even in the short time I got to spend with you, I could see that the love you have for each other runs deep. I'm so excited for the wedding!

Dave and Laura

I had the most incredible shoot with Dave and Laura yesterday! I went to youth group with Dave in highschool, and I can't beleive that he's getting married! This was my first time officially meeting Laura, and I can't get over how beautiful this woman is! They are getting married next June, and I have the incredible priveledge of being a part of their day. I loved watching the two of them together and just seeing the tenderness that they have, and the readily apparent love that they have for each other. Laura has the most expressive eyes, and I think Dave melts every single time she looks at him!

Dave and Laura - I'm so happy for you both, and can't wait for next June!

Catch Up!

I've been so far behind! I spent a lot of time this weekend cleaning off my computer, backing up files, and finally finished two slideshows!

I just have to say - this has been the most amazing summer! I have met some of the most amazing couples, and have developed friendships that I can't imagine not having now. To name a few people, Sarah - you have given me a way to live my dream, and I hope to be able to re-pay you for that some day. Kristen - I love laughing with you, and eating free cheesecake! Morgan - I am so stinking thrilled that you are in my town for the next month. I can't wait for our first time out :)

This slideshow is of Andy and Meghan. These two were the cutest ever! Andy is just a big teddy bear and Meghan is this tiny (and unbelievably buff!) sweetheart. They made an amazing couple, and were a lot of fun to photograph. Even the drizzle couldn't stop some really great photos!

And this is JB and Julie. They had incredible weather and great locations! The trolley riding is the best idea ever...I recommend it to everyone!! JB's sister was incredibly sweet and they were obviously very close. They had the sweetest kids at the wedding too!! One little guy especially - let me tell you - I could have taken a million photos of him!

I have a photoshop on Saturday with Dave and Laura! They got engaged a few weeks ago, and booked me for their wedding next June! I'm so excited for the shoot...stay tuned!

Greg and Eun Kyung

Ahhh! This wedding was the most beautiful wedding!! It was at Meyers Castle in Indiana, and let me tell was beautiful. Sarah and I had sooo much fun getting there. Due to the flooding on 80/94, we re-routed ourselves so many times to get around traffic, thanks to her new GPS! We'd turn at random points, even when it was only .3 miles away from the next turn...maybe you had to be there, but it was so funny!

Greg and Eun Kyung had an absolutely amazing day for their wedding. I couldn't beleive how wonderful the weather and lighting was all day long! They had obviously put a lot of time into their big day, and it definitely paid off. I was so impressed with the little details, and beautiful decorations! And they were an amazing couple to shoot, which made everything that much more amazing!

The biggest highlight of my day was getting to shoot with Sarah's Canon 5D. Friends, let me tell you, I'm sold. That camera is amazing and I couldn't believe the quality of the photos. I wanted to drool all day long :) Haha!

Everyone - please meet Greg and Eun Kyung...

Tony and Valerie

This wedding is especially close to my heart because Tony and Valerie's engagment session is the very first time I shot with Sarah. They were such an amazing couple then, and so much fun to shoot, and so passionately in love with each other. It was amazing how that passion reflected in their eyes. They made me fall in love even more with my photos because of that passion I saw.

Tony and Valerie got married at an AMAZING art gallery North of the loop last Saturday. I think my mouth hung open for the majority of the day. It was an absolutely incredible gallery, and such a completely perfect fit for them! They had a huuuge wedding party, and it was literally a party all day with them! Hahah! It was a great group of people, and so incredibly fun. We had a small fit of bad weather, which created some really cool photos.

Tony and Valerie - I wish you both the best, and am so grateful to have been a part of your day!

Long Overdue...

When life gets this insane - blogging isn't at the top of my list!

This has been a very rich season of life, and I'm loving it. I had the opportunity to visit my friends down in Alabama last weekend and wanted to share some of the photos I took at the gardens down there. Flowers speak of such intense beauty to me, and I could look at them all the time! I love to look at the very intricate details, the vibrancy of the petals and the layers. Their creation is amazing to me, and I wanted to capture that in my photos. It was a wonderful trip and I'm very grateful for the chance to visit with my friends!

Jim and Jen

Jim and Jen's wedding was wonderful, and very personal. It was both of their second weddings, and they each had their children stand up with them. Jen has four children, and Jim had three. I loved that during their ceremony, the pastor asked them if they would work to provide a safe, loving home for their children, and if they would do everything possible to make their families one - to which they responded "we do". And then the pastor asked the children if they would do everything possible to support their parents, and love and accept each other - to which they responded "we do". It was an incredibly touching moment to watch these two families commit to each other. Jim and Jen wrote vows that they each repeated, and my favorite line was the very first one - "You are my favorite moment of each day". There was a dress catastrophe before the ceremony. One of Jim's daughters had her dress zipper break! Hilary came with me to do tech stuff for me and she ran the daughter to TJ Max to buy another dress! Luckily they had the dress, albeit one size to large! It was a deep breathing moment for Jen but she handled it so well! Here are the photo's from the day...

Deborah and Keith

I loved this wedding because it was so personal! Deborah is six months pregnant and they had a very intimate wedding. It was in Keith's parents backyard and the arbor they got married under was made by his father. You could tell that everyone there was close with the family and it made for a very festive, friendly night! We had amazing weather, and just had a really fun time shooting. We got lost coming home, but Andrew and the laptop saved the day!!! I shot over 2300 photos and had a really hard time narrowing it down to only 80 for the slideshow!

Gwen and Gage

Everyone, please meet my sister and her son.

I know the photos are really over the top on the effects, but I'm having so much fun playing with ShowIt right now! I still can't figure out why the music won't play, so hum while you watch...

Josh and Lindsay

The long awaited slideshow is here! Josh and Lindsay were the sweetest couple, and so much fun to shoot! They were up for any type of photos, and Sarah worked with them so well - I loved watching her with them! It was a beautiful day and they had their reception at a hall that had the cutest little courtyard that was perfect for photographs!

Beautiful Friend

I took some photos with my best friend, Jenny, yesterday. She is taking a photography class this summer, and it's been so wonderful to share this passion with her! I met her at her friends house, and we took some photo's of thier little girl, and then I took a ton of Jenny! Jenny and I have been best friends for 17 years now. It's been an amazing journey together, and I love this woman with my entire heart.

Meet both Jenny and Destiny.

Weekend Overload!

This has been the most fabulous weekend. Not only did I get to shoot a wedding with Sarah, Kristen (and Andrew!) on Friday, but I met the most amazing people yesterday at a workshop/model shoot that we did! There are so many wonderful people in this business and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them. I met Morgan yesterday, from Indy, Tricia, who I believe just moved her business up here from Georgia, and two fabulous models, Steve and Sarah. Natalie and Andrew Barlow modeled for us too!

Here are just a few favorites from Josh and Lindsay's wedding two weeks ago. I'll post photos from Logan and Liz' wedding yesterday and a lot of yesterday's photos later!

I have the incredible opportunity to work with Sarah Barlow ( for the summer. Photography has been a passion for years, and I have finally decided to pursue my passion. Thank you for coming along for the journey and I hope you enjoy not only this first photoshoot, but the many many more to come!
