Jon and Heidi

This wedding is probably my most anticipated of the year!! Jon and I have been friends since...well...just take a look:

See? That's basically forever (thankfully I have since discovered the use of hair products and have at least minorly contained that frizz!!).

Now. That being said - Our moms and little sisters were best friends as we grew up, so we spent a lot of time together in our younger years. I have memories of tree swings, playing house, endless games of tag, hide and seek, long stays together when parents were on vacation, jr. high church events, sr. high youth group camping trips etc etc. There are SEVERAL memories I'd prefer to forget, but still wouldn't be traded for anything. We rarely see each other now, but I have been blessed to be around for a lot of the big moments over the "college and up" years. I love his heart, his passion and his spazziness. Jon has always been just that - Jon. He wears jewelry, has stuck with the long hair, loves freely, pursues the heart of God, and gives of himself without thought. He has chased his love of music, his dreams, and now this sweet, beautiful girl that he is about to commit his forever to.

Jon called me over christmas break two years ago and said "so....I met someone." His voice was enough to make me want to cry. I knew this was it! This was the phone call...this was the girl. He excited told me about this girl that works in the chapel at school and went on and ON (really, Heidi...on and on and on!) about this girl.

And then two-some odd years later, I got another call. "I'm engaged!!!!" Jon had proposed to Heidi the night before, and I could NOT be happier for them!!!

Jon....I'm so excited for you.

Heidi... In the short amount of time I've spent with you, I can see how well you compliment and match him. I'm so thrilled that he fell in love with you - he has really found an amazing woman. He's a handful so...good luck! ;)

Happy 4th!!

Happy Independence Day!! This is one of my favorite holiday's during the year because it's the day our country has set aside to rejoice our freedom...and there's lot of fireworks!!

I know that there are other holiday's during the year that are meant to remind us of everyone that has fought, and is currently fighting for our freedom, but the men and women that have sacrificed everything for our freedom are always near in my thoughts especially on days like today. Independence Day would mean nothing if it weren't for those that have fought for hundreds of years to keep our independence. I am incredibly honored to know several veterans, including both of my grandfathers, as well as several people that have recently served our country. I am consistently amazed and humbled by these men and women that have left everything they know and love to fight for this country.

Whenever I pass military members, I have an urge to just hug them and say thank you - not only them, but to thier families, spouses, significant others and anyone else that they have left behind. A woman that my dad works with forwarded this video - and I couldn't help but share the site with you all! It's the PERFECT way to simply say thank you to these amazing men and women that bless us everyday with thier sacrifices. Take a minute to visit THIS site!

Finally - here is a sneak preview of a wedding I shot yesterday! The reception was on a boat cruise off of Navy Pier, fireworks and all!!

The Wonder Of It All

I was emailing with a friend of mine today and it suddenly just hit me. It hit me that I have the most amazing job in the world. It hit me that my career is capturing the weddings of clients - who have always inevitable become friends. It hit me that I need to learn to love my computer, because I'm going to spend hours and hours and hours in front of it :)

I'm editing Dave and Laura's wedding photos and can't get over how beautiful Laura is. I know I told our friendship story in my post from thier wedding, but I just want to say again how grateful I am for this amazing woman and her friendship. Laura is real, honest, passionate, caring, protective and so much fun. I was looking through Dave's facebook photos from thier honeymoon, and my heart kept melting at the notes he was putting on photos of her. He just kept talking about her beauty and just kept claiming her as his woman through his words and his look in each photo. I LOVE being with these two for that reason. They both have histories, they both have stories....and they have both decided to bend for each support each other through anything and everything..and to love each other with abandon.

I absolutely adore these two. And Laura, I especially adore you :)
