Zach and Anna

Ahhh :) I'm just not even sure where to start. Anna and I have become so close over the last few months that it wasn't just a client, but a truly amazing friend getting married. She was beautiful and radiant and an amazing bride. The day started at Focus Salon where I got to see my other gorgeous bride from a few weeks ago, Tricia! They just recently returned from their honeymoon and Tricia is Anna's hairstylist so I got to see her which was amazing!

Anna had 4 bridesmaids and two attendants and they were really a great group of girls. When Anna was getting her dress on they were all there to help and she commented that "all of my favorite girls are here!" and I just smiled in delight for her. I've heard some of the background stories on her bridesmaids and what they each meant to Anna and knowing that made the "girls only" moments even more precious for me. They each graciously accepted me into their inner circle for the day and I just really enjoyed each of them so much!

This is one of my FAVORITE moments of the day! We had just gotten to the hotel to start dressing/makeup-ing and Anna RUNS to the bed and just starts jumping on it yelling "I'm getting married!!!!". It was so unbelievably cute :)

Zach has a twin brother - and I had to forewarn Anna that she might end up with a bunch of photos of the wrong brother! He also has two wonderful sisters and they make quite the group. They have been through some unbelievably hard things together, and underneath the teasing and sibling banter, there is a quiet under current of love that goes between them. This is my favorite photo of them from the day..

Anna - I have loved every moment of being with you. From costumes and grooms gifts to text messages to clam linguine and Riesling...I have enjoyed your friendship so much.

Zach - Your words to Anna at the reception made me cry. Your love for this woman is so passionate and deep and real. Keeping loving this woman with everything in you....I'm pretty fond of her :)

You two are a perfect fit and I love you both!! Congratulations!!!

Anna, babe....here is your song special for you.

Julia Paulson - Senior!

Julia - or more preferably "Jules" to those of us that used to babysit her years ago! - is a senior this year! I absolutely can't believe it. It might make me a little old, but I really think the last time I saw her, she was about as tall as my waist, with a face full of freckles, and giggling about anything and everything. Well! Fast forward several years, and she's about as tall as ME, still has a face full of freckles and still loves to giggle!

When Jules and I talked about where to go for her senior shoot, one of the things she was absolutely adamant about was taking photos by the lake. This girl lives and breathes water and I love that she wanted water to be a part of her shoot. She was so comfortable and relaxed at the beach and we had some absolutely amazing light! We started in downtown Crystal Lake, where she's grown up and ended by the water. She picked an amazing blue dress (with adorable shoes!) for the first part of the shoot, and we just had at it! She got into it so fast and had me laughing during her "singing in the rain" portrayal with the lamp post!

Brian and Kait: Engaged!

They met years ago working together. Brian was tasked with training Kait, even though he was just a week on the job himself and after years of friendship and falling in love - they're getting married!! Brian and Kait were..incredibly cute. Oh my gosh. I always ask my couples if they are comfortable kissing in front of the camera and the girls are always all about it and the guys are always like "ehh..okay." But by the end of the shoot the guys are SO into it! Brian was no exception and I couldn't even handle how cute he was with Kait. He was so tender and so adoring of her. And Kait....Kait was just the cutest thing. Hey eyes sparkled when she looked at Brian and her smile was always starting.

Okay. My embarrassing story for the night. For SOME reason I kept calling Brian "Eric" all night. I have absolutely no idea what had gotten into me! They have a great sense of humor and we just laughing about it all night. I think I'm just going to give up and rename the guy!

So, BRIAN and Kait - you two were amazing to be with. Thank you for this glimpse into your lives and your love. You guys are amazing!

I love these two photos because they so depict what I saw from these two all night: quiet, gentle, tender and just so in love!

Jon and Heidi

Aaaaand they're married!! Jon and Heidi's wedding was last night and the consensus was that it was a huge success! They had AMAZING weather, AMAZING light, AMAZING guests and an AMAZING wedding party. I haven't ever had so much fun taking photos of groomsmen and the girls just kept me laughing! The wedding party was such a great reflection of the bride and groom - which obviously means they were crazy :) A few of my highlights from the day....

Heidi's brothers wanted to do a "cool" photo with Jon and we came away with this one - and yes - they are all that cute :)

AAAnnnnd the last one before the slideshow - Heidi's little sister, Jill, gave the BEST Maid of Honor speech I have ever heard!! She told a story about how she had seen/met Jon from afar years before Heidi started dating him and how he was the man of her dreams and then one day - Heidi came home with him as her boyfriend!!! Everyone was rolling with laughter and I love this shot of Heidi and Jon's reactions :)

Photobucket

Jon and Heidi.... I had such a great time with you yesterday. I meant a lot to me to be a part of your day in such an intimate way and I adored watching the two of you in love. Enjoy the honeymoon!

Scott and Julie

Scott and Julie were my first official couple!! They got married right around Christmas time last year and, as I told them last night, they hold a special spot in my heart as my first couple :)

...A brief look back at their wedding....

Photobucket

Photobucket

Scott and Julie now live near a lake and a really pretty park area - so we headed out there for some "We Did!!" photos! I absolutely loved getting to see them again!

I love engagement shoots because there is so much EXCITED energy. The couple has that "look" of anticipation, excitement, and "AHH! We're getting married!!". When their wedding comes, the energy changes to almost a nervous energy. Everyone can't help but smile and sparkle. The couples look at each other with deep love and high emotions and everyone just wants to run and jump around!

This was my first "We Did!" shoot...and I've fallen in love with the concept. I loved Scott and Julie during their wedding and all of their emotions that were so contagious, BUT. This shoot was.... tender and relaxed and intimate in a way of two people that have settled into life together. They melted into each other and knew each other. They were playful and SO cute and I just absolutely love them!!

Scott and Julie - I continue to wish you both the best! Thank you for this additional look into your life!!

Scott and Julie's first dance was to this song and I think it's still a perfect fit for them.

Erik and Tricia

This is one of those weddings that just leaves you with no words. I cried four separate times!!

Erik and Tricia were SO in love with each other. Tricia literally glittered all day long! Her eyes never stopped sparkling and Erik just couldn't take his eyes off of her. Erik and Tricia actually met overseas during a tour in Iraq and their love story has acquired fame! The Chicago Sun Times ran their wedding on the FRONT PAGE and another paper ran the story too! While I can't ever imagine this sweet, dainty little lady in army gear, both she and Erik spent 16 months overseas - a tour that extended 6 months past the originally scheduled 10 months, and they celebrated their beginnings with red shoes, bluish flowers and flags instead of bubbles for a send off in all red cars! These two are an incredible couple, and though brought together under hard circumstances, their love is tangibly tender and intense.

Tricia was......beyond words beautiful. This girl radiates love, gentleness, sweetness, kindness and true beauty. I couldn't keep my eyes off of her all night! Glowing doesn't sufficiently describe her.

This picture perfectly depicts exactly what Erik's face said all day long

Pretty flowers, pretty veil and beautiful couple

Tricia's father passed away earlier this year and she honored him during the ceremony by having a daddy daughter dance and played a slideshow of photographs while she and her brother danced. I was crying so hard I could barely see to take photos. It was so touching and so beautiful. Her brother so proudly held her and spun her, laughed with her and cried with her and celebrated and honored their father together with her. It was such an incredible moment.

Photobucket

A last note....for the garter toss they did it Army style!! Erik started out with pushups, and army crawled over to Tricia!! It was hysterical!! He poudly came out with the garter in his teeth and her brother caught it!!! lol!!

Photobucket

Erik and Tricia I wish you the best! Erik, I hope you look at Tricia with that passion for the rest of your life – and Tricia, I hope you glitter with love for this man for the rest of your life!!

A Break

I am alive! I promise!! Life has been so crazy busy and blogging has definitely fallen low on my list of things to do! I've been editing my life away and thankfully putting some systems in place to alleviate some of the amount of time it's taking - which is good news for my clients because they'll get their photos sooner!!

Today is Sunday and Nick actually has the day off today :) This is only the second whole day we've had together since we've been married and I'm thrilled!! My amazing "second family" came over for dinner on Friday and we were reminded that it was our two month anniversary! I can't believe it's been two months already! It's amazing :) I'm so excited or today - I don't even know what we have planned but whatever it is - he'll be with me!!

My sisters and I went to a Colbie Colait/John Mayer concert a week or so ago. There are a lot of changes coming up in our sisterhood with my baby sister heading off to college in Oklahoma (where I've been told that the main attraction is the town slushie stand) and my immediately older sister getting married next year! It's been so interesting where life is taking each of us, but these are good changes and I'm looking forward to the next several months of wedding talk and phone calls to the slushie stand :)

Happy Sunday everyone!!
