Nic and Allie

And on to Indy! This post is actually weeks late - so I have been to Indy and back with my amazing friend Sarah Barlow, sent her on her way to Nashville and her amazing new apartment, and am finally getting these pictures posted! Sarah and I had an amazing weekend together and shot our friend Morgan's sister wedding. I adore shooting weddings with another photographer because its so incredibly laid back. I interned with Sarah last summer and was perfectly content to let her take the lead and focus more on the smaller things. We had so much fun, and this wedding was AMAZING.

I knew when I walked into Morgan's room and saw her lime green JCrew Maid-of-honor dress that this was going to be an amazing day. Allie and Nic got married at an art gallery, the girls were in coral and lime green, the guys wore flip flops and Allie wore both red shoes and my orange wedding shoes!!!! Allie and Nic paid attention to the little details all the way down to limes and lemon's for place card holders. Everything was fun, classy and laid back. It was beautiful!!!

Allie's dress was........there are actually no words. Stunning, beautiful, classy, elegant....none of those words do it justice. This dress was made for this girl! It fit her like a glove and she looked like a million bucks in it!!! Between the lace, halter cut, extreme mermaid cut look - there is no way I could pick a favorite part, but her bow might take first place.

And helloooooo red shoes!

Allie and Nic did a "first look" which made the day flow so amazingly well. I stood with Nic facing me as Allie walked up behind him and I couldn't stop my smile from stretching off my face watching him grin waiting for that tap on his shoulder.

This might be my favorite shot from the day.

And even though the day was all about Nic and Allie - I have to post these few of my beautiful friend and the maid-of-honor, Morgan.

Eric and Carolyn::Engaged!

I met Eric ad Carolyn several weeks ago, and sat at Starbucks with them and heard about their story and their wedding plans. One of my favorite parts of this job is hearing all the different love stories. The girls radiate and the guys sheepishly smile in adoration listening to their soft sides be told. It never fails to make me want to be a little 4 year old giggling at a fairy tale story with unicorns and rainbows!

A couple of weeks after that – we headed out to Cantigny for their engagement shoot! They are getting married there next year and thought it would be good to scout out the grounds of the 44 acre property with a gorgeous mansion, immaculate gardens and enough walkways to get lost on.

We had gorgeous weather, a beautiful couple and a soon-to-be bride that was willing to wander any place I asked!

Eric and Carolyn, I’m so excited for your wedding! You choose an amazingly beautiful place and I think it’s just such a great reflection of who you are. I just loved watching the two of you together and can’t wait for next year!

Fading Away

It hit me this morning....summer is creeping away.

I got up at 5:15 with my man (well, he got up and I think I mumbled fairly incoherently "wake me up after your shower" and slept for the next 20 minutes) and it was dark. I mean - car headlights needed dark. If you live in the Midwest - you understand the sinking feeling that hit my stomach as the six month winter blues set in.

I had a brief few moments of insanity about a week ago where I thought I was ready for fall scarf weather, but it turns out? I'm not. I want to grasp and hold on to the last few straws of summer. Run through a sprinkler, BBQ once more and find some sand to dig my toes in before it gets too cold for open toed shoes and airy dresses.

Although I can't make summer stay, and as I'm already replacing my fall/winter shoerobe (like wardrobe but for shoes!)....I will gracefully usher in the fall season.

Besides - I have a delayed honeymoon on the beach to look forward too :)
