Just a Tuesday

One of my momma's favorite sayings is "there will be good days, and there will be bad days, but mostly, there will just be days". Today was just a Tuesday. It was productive, moved along at a steady pace, and now it's time to wind down and just 'be'. I'm super excited about bedtime today :)

On a totally random note.....while I was cleaning up dinner, I was thinking about one of my most favorite women in the world, Ashley. I've talked about Ash before, but to summarize, she is the girlfriend I met once for literally 3 minutes several years ago, and ended up being best friends with via online chat. In fact, in the last, five years (I think?) I have actually been in the same room with Ash on exactly 4 occasions. And yet, we are best friends. She is the one I tell things that I can't say to anyone else. She is the one that dances to "Belly Dancer" with me, laughs at my idiocy, supports me in my career and general life and knows the deepest parts of my heart. God has certainly woven a very interesting relationship between the two of us! Anyway - all of that to say, I had an epiphany about our relationship halfway into cleaning the fondue pot. Ash is my diary. Honestly, if anyone were to get ahold of our chat history, it would be the story of my life! The nice thing about a book diary is that you can say whatever you want - no judgement, no disappointment from the "listener", just total pure acceptance and safety bubble. That's Ash! I'm going to start all chat conversations now with "Dear Ashley" :) If you don't have a dear diary friend - go find one!!! It's a "must have" in life!

Today's playlist stemmed from a low key, focused mood. Keith Urban "Love, Pain, and the whole crazy thing" was listened two at least three times through. That's a great CD if you need something new to listen to. The rest of the music was just background noise...nothing memorable!

I have unconscious play lists. I have 4 or 5 formal playlists, neatly organized in my Itunes, but I have a lot of "oh that's what I have to listen to right now!" moments, and I have to go dig out the 645th "Beth's Mix" CD from the stack, and wrack my brain to remember if the song I want is the 13th or 16th song on the CD.

Yes. I really do this.

I have a couple of fail safe songs. For instance: I ALWAYS listen to Akon's "Belly Dancer" on Fridays. Yes, I know it's a bagillion years old, but it makes me laugh and gets me moving!! When I'm struggling with life's curveballs, I have a variety to pick from, but one of my favorites is Natalie Grant's "Held", reminding me that when it's alllll said and done, God is still there holding me. Summer favorites range through ANYTHING country. Country music is always better with your windows down, speeding down the road, singing at the top of your lungs.

Todays playlist:

Sugarland "Enjoy the Ride" CD
The Wreckers "Leave the Pieces" CD
Miranda Lambert "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" CD

For those of you that don't know, Nick and I are house hunting. We have been dutifully reading descriptions, comparing property taxes, scoping out neighborhoods, checking for structural sturdiness, and driving our amazing realtor crazy insane! We have looked at over 20 homes, and there have been two homes that jumped out at us, both of which ended up having contract already in on them. We are looking almost exclusively at foreclosed homes, because I want something that I can go HGTV crazy on! It's been a long process, but I kiss the feet of our realtor, who has been SO patient with me and encouraged me to keep looking to find the perfect one. I think I owe her my firstborn child at this point.... :)

I'll keep you posted on the progress. It's exciting and overwhelming all at the same time!

I have an unusual love affair with my vacuum cleaner.

Mr. Dyson, I love you to death for designing such an ingenious design, easy to maneuver, fun to look at vacuum.

Today was my deep cleaning day. I've put it off long enough! I washed windows, mopped floors, dusted floorboards, scrubbed my shower and LOVE sitting here knowing that my home is spotless. Yes...I know this is an illness, but I'm perfectly okay with that!

Happy Sunday!

My amazing friend, and fellow photographer, Kristen wrote a blog post not long ago and started it with this (and I quote)

"Ok, so, you know when you see someone across the room that you kind of know, but you haven't seen in a while?
And then it's awkward when you make eye contact, and know you need to say hi but after it's been too long it almost makes it worse to say hi?

That's been me and my blog.

The end."

Thaaaat's how I feel about me and my blog right now. My dad sent me an incredulous email today about the lack of updating. I don't have any valid excuse other than pure laziness, which might be the worst part! So! That being said, I'm back to a month of posts. One a day for the rest of the month. They say it takes two weeks to establish a habit, and I'm DETERMINED to get this blog on my habit list!

Last weekend, I went to visit some friends of mine in Alabama. I haven't seen them since my wedding, and I must say, it was so great to spend time with them again. We spent Friday afternoon at my favorite place to visit in Birmingham - the botanical gardens. The property is SO beautiful, and it's right across the street from the zoo, and on a quiet day, you can hear the elephants chiming in :) There wasn't to much in bloom, but everything was GREEN, and let me tell you...after 6 months of dreary brown here at home...green is the most beautiful color in the world to me. In an intense moment of sappiness - it was just a reminder that spring WILL come (despite the snow we got over the weekend) and that life will revive!

While we were there, there was a wedding that was getting ready to start...and I just couldn't resist grabbing a few shots :)

We saw the Groom coming out of the bathrooms, and my heart skipped a beat at the thought of a wedding. You could tell her was so uncomfortable in a suit...he kept tugging at his sleeves and rolling his shoulders. It was cute :)

Two of my favorite shots

And a small slideshow for good measure.

Good Night!
