Nate and Meredith

Part two of the Madison trip was shooting Meredith and Nate's engagement session! This shoot is a (obviously) incredibly special to me, because Mere is my sister-in-law! Nate and I are the DeCaluwe tag-on's and share a bond by default because of that :)

Okay, so I remember the first time I heard about Nate. I was having dinner with my in-law's and Debbie (my mom-in-law!) told me that Mere has been spending a lot of time with this Nate guy, and she was really liking him. I was thrilled, and of course couldn't wait to meet him. Well...it took MONTHS before I finally got to meet him, and it was so easy to see that they fit well together. Nate balances out Meredith's carefree side, and Mere brings out the goofy side of him. They both like camping/outdoorsy stuff, exercising, and have managed to settle their sport team differences :) I'm not sure the family will ever forgive Mere for bringing a Packer fan into the family but....so far so good!!

I remember one weekend that Meredith and I shared a room for the night, and she was telling me more about him. I remember laying there listening to her, and realizing that although there were stars in her eyes, she spoke of this man with such respect, and admiration.

Nate, this girl is absolutely crazy about you :)

Okay! On to photos!

If you know Meredith...you know that 95% of her photos have her making a face in it. This one is just for posterity's sake!

I think Mere's hair is just FABULOUS in these next two. I originally had 9 of this first photo setting in the slideshow because her hair was so great in them all! Don't worry...I edited some out :)

Olivia

In my grand attempt to be better at posting...look! Two days in a row!!! I know I have another engagement shoot to post (hang in there Mere and Nate!) but I have to share this quick.

My momma got herself a little baby. It's furry, and ferocious, and sleeps a lot. Please don't be alarmed....it's just a puppy!!!

One of my sister's dog's had a little too much fun, and produced these ADORABLE little munchkins. My dad couldn't resist his beautiful wife's face asking for a puppy, so he pulled off a sweet surprise and when they were visiting my sister last weekend, the puppy came home with them :) I've been told it took my mom quite a bit to realize why Olivia had a pink collar, and a tag with her name on it. I heard there was a lot of "oh my goodness" headshaking from those that were in on the little secret. You have to know my mom to know that this can be a fairly common thing and we all her for it!

So. Nick and I headed over to meet the newest addition to the family on Saturday. I aallllllmost put her in my purse and stole her when we left. She's about a foot tall, with floppy ears, big glassy eyes, and sharp teeth! Nick isn't ready for a puppy yet, but I'm determined to take lessons from my mom on the beautiful face part to see if I can change his mind soon :)

Meet Olivia.

The other dog here is my mom's 10 year old Yorkie. He's not quite sure what to make of this ball of fire.

Okay off to bed! Stick around this week...there will be lots of posts!

Mike and Kaylyn

Please meet Mike and Kaylyn!

Mike and Kaylyn met several years ago at college up in Steven's Point in college, and it turns out that basketball was the key to falling in love for them :) I read through their wedding website and reading how they put it is priceless - and I quote "Do you want to play some basketball? Micheal blurted out. Kaylyn was a little taken back, as she didn't really enjoy sports because she wasn't to good at them. But, this was a moment in time when Kaylyn didn't care if she made a fool of herself, she was interested in this new man she had accidentally met." I LOVE IT!

I hadn't met them until their engagement shoot, but quickly saw that they are a perfect fit for each other. Mike is crazy and Kaylyn is so easily amused by him. Kaylyn is silly and Mike feeds off of it! They both have amazing career paths, and when we were talking about it, I was struck by the immense amount of pride they each had in the other about their goals. They look at each other with a sparkle in their eyes, and their smiles are SO close to the surface at all times.

We all met up in Madison and walked allll over the city. I LOVED shooting there, and would absolutely go back again. There is some beautiful architecture, and a lot of great colors.....a photographers dream :)

An amazing door (yes, it's the little things in life for me)

Kaylyn is......beautiful. She has the most amazing features, and intensely beautiful expressions.

I love the energy here

Sneak Peek!

So! Sunday, I headed up to Madison to shoot two engagement shoots! My sister in law and her man, and the adorable Kaylyn and her man! It was a lot of fun, and we didn't let a gigantic St. Patrick's day parade in the middle of the city deter us! It was so beautiful out, and I had so much fun with both couples! I'm going to bed...but here is a quick sneak peek!

Meredith and Nate:

Mere laughs a lot. I love that about her.

And the next step goes to....

Well, this past week was...hard, impossible, sad, heartbreaking and quite possibly the longest 6 days of my life. I'm drained, and tired, and the smallest things will set me off into crying. Everyone banded together these last few days, and carried each other as a whole unit. There will be grief for a very very long time to come, but I have seen an amazing love in family and friends that will fight to win out. I have never been more proud of my husband than I was this past week. Nick really stood up to the task in front of him, and went beyond it.

Right now, I'm honestly just a little too tired to type anymore. So I'm going to leave you with photos of my most beloved man, taken at my sisters wedding at the end of January. My AMAZING friend and gifted photographer, MORGAN MATTERS shot these of the two of us. He's just my favorite :)
