Eric and Nelly :: Married!

Ooookay! This wedding topped the amazing charts!! First, you have the gorgeous bride. Second, you have the handsome groom. Then you have the love of the bride and the groom. THEN you have the worlds greatest wedding party. THEEN you have a great family. THEEEN you have lavish ceremony and reception details. THEEEEN you have live singers at the reception. THEEEEEN you have a guest list of people that (literally) danced the night away.

Seriously internet....it was amazing!!

If you have followed any of my work and blog posts, you know that I love my friendships with my brides. You know that I love being a part of every love story that I have been invited into. Eric and Nelly....man, these two just took the cake. They are such gracious, funny, loving, classic and adorable people. I didn't stop smiling all day just being so caught up in what was going on! They were surround all day long by people that believed in them, both as individuals and as a couple, and the utter joy that surrounded the day was just so great!!

As I love to do, my day started with the girls. Nelly's bridesmaids were her best friends, and you could see it in the way they grabbed each others hands in excitement, laughed together, and shared the festivities of the day together. The makeup artist had Nelly perfectly positioned in front of a window to give me great light.

It took me a long time to pick just the right photos to showcase here. I just wanted to pick everything!! This photo is a PERFECT depiction of the spirit of this wedding party - I snapped it literally as I turned around, but it's too fantastic to pass up despite the lighting issues!

Just a few to show you how stinking gorgeous this girl is....MAN!

When Eric and I were walking together, I asked him how he was doing, because he seemed a little nervous. He told me that he was nervous about the day, about everything going smoothly, and then said "the only thing I'm not nervous about it marrying Nelly." He was so matter of fact about it, like he knew with everything in him that this woman was his. It was so touching, and just a perfect image of how these two are together. I swear Nelly starts to glow every time he's around or she's talking about him. There is no hesitation with them, no holding back. Just love, respect and the comfort of knowing they've found their perfect match.

Nelly - you make my life pretty!!!

Last one, I promise! Eric and Nelly are Jewish, and Russian! I have never been a part of a Jewish wedding prior to this (and have to say a special thank you to their videographer (who was!) for all his help and direction throughout the night!), and I just thought it was beautiful. There is so much tradition and meaning behind every part of the ceremony, and I learned so much! The reception was seriously inSANE too!! I'm telling you....everyone just daaaaanced all night! I haven't ever had so much fun and never realized how fast time was flying by.

Eric and Nelly - I love you guys so much and hope you are having a wonderful, quiet honeymoon! You are both such beautiful people, and I loved watching you together, with your family and with your friends. You are surrounded by people that love you so much! I want to hear all about the white sand beaches when you get back!!

Eric and Jess

Last Friday night, my sister called me with a slight note of panic in her voice and said that her friends daughter was getting married the next day, and the photographer had to cancel at the last minute! So Saturday morning I headed down to Indiana and met the lovely Jess and her handsome soon-to-be-husband.

This was an interesting experience for me, because I hadn't met Jess and Eric (affectionately known as "Cowboy" to those that know him well) prior to that day, so I knew nothing about them, as a couple, or as individuals, so everything was a surprise to me!! My sister had given me just a little bit of background, and told me that Eric was a Marine. I later learned from Jess that they met at a country dance event and it sounds like it was love at first sight! I so enjoyed watching them together as the day went by, and seeing their young love up close like that. It just felt fresh and fun and I found that when they look at each other, their eyes just sparkle. I loved it!!

Eric and Jess, thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your day. It was an honor to be a part of your story together, and my love and prayers go with you both as Eric heads back for another round of boot camp and deployment.

Just a few of my favorites before the slideshow...

Jess' dad, Scott, was FANTASTIC! He and Trish, Jess' mom, were all about their baby girl all day, making sure things ran smoothly for her. This photo just cracks me up...partly because of the stare down he was trying not to smile through, and partly because Eric is just grinning back at him, trying to match the stare!!

I looooooove these of Eric...it is SO humbling to be with a man that has given his life to my country. I have several people in my life that have given years and years of their life to the service in some capacity, and I am always grateful for what they have done, but I don't think it really hits me as much as it should, especially after the way I just wanted to hug this man all day. Men and women like him that have literally sacrificed everything in life just live life to a completely different beat. Photographing this man seemed so insignificant in light of what he was doing with his life. Eric, my prayers and support go with you!

Before I get to the lovely bride, I have to show you this photo. I'm not quite sure why, but it makes me giggle almost uncontrollably! The guys didn't have much range of motion in their blues, and they valiantly did their best!!
Photobucket

Okay, people. Jess was GORGEOUS. She wore the most fantastic pink/yellow/orangish dress and cowboy boots. Those things, combined with her fantastic red hair (I know you hate it jess, but it's so so pretty!!) was a beautiful combination. My eyes get glued to this photo everytime I scroll past it!

Growing Pains

It's been one of those days....where you realize that you've dropped the ball more than once, and by the time the 10th ball hits the ground, you are reduced to a crying mess, cleaning up the cup of root beer than you just knocked all over the coffee table and white carpet.

The growing pains in this business just aren't fun. And saying it like that doesn't make me feel like I've communicated the depths of my frustration for the day, but really... Every time I do something that I want to makes me feel like I'm either a. hitting my head against a brick wall or b. not following through well enough with a client, I try so hard to sit and think it through and figure out how to do it better or more efficiently next time. I WANT to do better, I WANT to make people happier, and there are very few things that discourage me faster than when I'm not succeeding at those two things. It makes me pray a lot that people have grace with me!

Internet - I WILL learn to do this better, and I WILL be a better business woman/photographer/friend to my clients. It might take a little longer than we would all hope, but I promise it's always a work in progress :)

Thankfully, my husband is here to love me in the midst of my most inefficient moments. Nick, thank you for stroking my back, making me laugh, and cleaning up my spilled root beer.

Aaaaaand just because every post is better with a photograph...here is a sneak peek of what's coming....

Nate and Meredith :: Married!!

Ohhhh weddings. I love them with everything in me! All the little details that pull together after months of planning to create a day that will stand out in memory for two specific people. And let me tell you...there were a TON of little details that went into this wedding. Meredith spent so much time attaching daisies to matching light blue and yellow papers for table cards and programs, their champagne flutes, bubbles, and any decoration that they would attach to! She (and Nate :) ) constructed a wedding day that had everything that perfectly suited them - all the way down to table cards that had opposing Wisconsin and Chicago sports figures.

Maybe you remember from reading about their engagement shoot, but Meredith is my fabulous, couldn't-ask-for-a-better sister in law. Mere is a teacher up in Wisconsin, and after soccer coaching was done for the summer, she headed home for the last few weeks before the wedding to finalize the details. She was so laid back about everything, content to know that if everything fell apart at the last minute - she was still going to end the day married. I love it when brides have that mindset! She kept the rest of us held together!

Friday morning dawned gooorgeous and sunny, and we all flocked to the salon for hair and then on to the church for food, dressing and makeup! I spent most of the day torn between holding my camera and just relaxing and living in the moment, from the other side of the lens. But! I had absolutely nothing to worry about, because my amazing friend, and fantastic photographer Jenni was there to shoot the day!! The photos from the slideshow are a mix of her shots and mine!

Okay! Enough writing for now...on to the gorgeous bride!!

Meredith was VERY strict about the men in her life (dad, brothers or Nate!) not seeing her dress until the wedding day. This photo is dad seeing her for the first time...
Photobucket

Meredith and Nate's home church is up in Wisconsin, so they did some looking around to find a church down here to get married at, and found a church that had stain glass windows on the sides that matched the wedding colors...it was meant to be! Their ceremony was so sweet, and SO perfect for them - all the way down to Meredith asking her brothers and mom to stand with her dad when he gave her away, the funny moments of her not-so-subtly reminding her maid of honor to fix her beautiful train, the way Nate wiped her tears and stood with his arm around her, instead of just holding her hand, and the way that he looked at her so intently, absolutely radiating love. Aaaaand...in perfect fashion...they danced down the aisle for their processional!

My ever-favorite wedding moment....the first few seconds of being alone after the ceremony...

Just a quick add-in about Steven (Nick's brother) and his wife, Heather...just because I love this photo!

Heather and I were bridal assistants, and actually remembered to grab a photo of just the three of us (thanks Heather!)!
