Right before Mike and Kristen's wedding day, I was searching my blog for their engagement posting (so I could send it to my wonderful momma and second shooter, Ginnie Lange) and discovered that I never blogged it. Either that or little elves came in and removed it....I'm going with the elves theory. So we'll start this lovely story with some engagement photos from last fall!
I left my very first meeting with Mike and Kristen with two very strong impressions. 1) Kristen has got her stuff together. Majorly.
2) Mike was so completelyheadoverheels enamored with this woman.
There seemed to be such a feng shui thing happening between them. A perfect blend of extremes with some overlapping middles.
A few weeks ago, Mike and Kristen stood together and pledged the rest of their forevers together, and I had the very distinct pleasure of being a part of their day. The day started out with this text being sent from Mike to Kristen's sister, Jaclyn. "I'm sure my bride is very nervous right now, so I will make you a deal. If you take care of her this morning, I will take care of her for the rest of her life. Deal?" (insert swoon here!) It was the perfect tone to start the day on.
Kristen was so determined on not having to rush at any point during her day. She wanted to enjoy the process, not clock watch for it and planned everything accordingly. It gave the entire day a "lets be friends and hang out" feel and allowed for some really sweet fellowship to happen. I loved this shot of Kristen's bridesmaids just chillin' and watching Kristen.
Kristen's dress was covered in this gorgeous thick lace that gave so much texture to the dress without weighing it down in the least. It was absolutely gorgeous!
I love how feminine these two shots are...
Kristen was....beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. She was so comfortable in her skin that day, and was radiantly happy. Kristen is one of those people that you go to when you need solutions, a fiercely protective love and a rejuvenated spirit. She bring such an effortless order to her world, and has such a beautiful soul. Despite the absolutely suffocating heat and humidity....I just absolutely love every shot we came away with.
I met Mike at the church before the ceremony for some shots with his guys. Mike is the guy that everyone just wants to be friends with. He is so kind, and so sweet and so happy all.the.time. He listens closely, wants you to be happy, and cares deeply for those he loves.
I was giving Mike a quick smile break and loved this shot I sneaked in.
As we were wrapping up the guys photos, the sky's went from cloudy to ominous. And then the sky's opened up. We're talking apocalyptic downpours happening.
But inside the church, this beautiful event was happening....Mike was seeing his bride for the very first time. I had Collin Raye's lyrics wrapping through my mind during this moment...
"One boy, one girl. Two hearts beating wildly.
To put it mildly, it was love at first sight.
He smiled, she smiled, and they knew right away...
this was the day they'd been waiting for all their lives.
For a moment the whole world revolved around
one boy, and one girl."
Remember the flood gates that opened earlier? By the end of the ceremony, we were back at blue skies and sun...and I did a little jig :)
Mr. and Mrs. Leverso
The reception took place at Cafe La Cave, and I have to send a huge thank you to their coordinator, Randy, for his outstanding efforts into making it an incredible event.
The evening was FULL of dancing, laughing, and mass amounts of celebrating!
(and high-fiving :))
Mike gave a really beautiful thank you speech, and I absolutely LOVE Kristen's reactions during it.
Mike and Kristen, it was my greatest pleasure to spend your wedding day with you. I have enjoyed so much getting to know you over these last few months, and wish you both every happiness in the world as you start this new journey together!
