Kristy and Justin :: Married!

I liked these two from the very beginning. I really did. But I was completely sold when halfway through the day, Kristy needed a little minute to breath and instead of letting me calm her, Justin gently asked me to give them a moment together. As I walked around the corner I glanced back and see him hugging his wife-to-be and just loving on her. It's a special man that will embrace (literally and figuratively) an emotional woman and Justin didnt even blink before stepping in. It melted my heart.

Kristy is vivacious. There is no better word to describe her. She's also tough, loving, energetic, and passionate. Justin is steady, quite funny, gentle, and intense. Together they make a powerhouse couple that I'd love to be best friends with.

They decided to be married in Galena at the vineyard, on what turned out to be quite possibly the coldest day of the year. Wind blowing, cloudy skied freezer box cold. And yet, it was amazing and intimate and significant and? it was beautiful. In fact, I make absolutely no apology for how long this post is going to be. I loved every single image my wonderful best friend and fellow photographer Jenni and I came away with!

Jenni grabbed a couple shots of Justin prepping (it's so much easier for boys :))

Kristy and Justin opted for a first look. You've heard me before, and you'll hear me again - best idea for a wedding day. It's calm, it's relaxed, it completely opens up your timeline for the day, and for these two...it's freezing :)

I was shooting some portraits of Kristy, and Jenni grabbed this from a different angle and I loved them even better than what I took!

Galena Cellars was so cute and in some parts kitchy. It had sweeping views of the land surrounding it, which I think was my favorite part. It was peaceful and had a resident golden retreiver that liked to be a part of the activity.

The ceremony was outdoors and conducted by one of Kristy's close friends. They wrote everything for it, including their vows that started with "I love you". It was sweet and meaningful and they smiled through the whole thing.

Annabella and Marcus :: Married!!

I met Annabella and Marcus last fall through one of my best friends. I had run a Groupon (that disastrous story will eventually hit the blog) and my friend had encouraged Annabella to get one to have her engagement photos taken. I love my friend for the suggestion, because I wouldn't have missed getting to know this couple for anything!

As I was searching for a good term to describe them - the one that keeps coming to mind is "cozy". They are gentle, happy, loving, detail orientated, comfortable, artistic, grounded and just...cozy people. They have an old-world quality about their love - the kind that just eeks strength, commitment and from-the-bottom-of-my-heart. Annabella watches you closely when you speak - she looks in your eyes with whole hearted focus. Marcus' eyes are almost always crinkled in the corners in the beginnings of a smile. Together they are best friends, and now husband and wife.

Their wedding took place at Independence Grove surrounded by an amazing group of friends that stood with them, and a LOT of adoring family. They had been hoping for good weather, but were met with rain storms all day long, which didn't phase either of them in the least. They were so focused on the marriage that the changes to the wedding plans didn't rock their boat. And so...I give you - Annabella and Marcus.

Before we headed out for the day - there was a photo of Annabella as a young's hanging in her bedroom that I'd heard about. Ms. Sassy pants and Dad's awesome 'vette. It was specially requested for a re-make.

Awesome wedding party :)

Because of the rain, the ceremony was moved indoors into a beautiful room, fireplace and all :)

See the wooden circle there? Annabella and Marcus wanted something unique for their "unity candle" moment. Something meaningful and something they would display in their home as a constant reminder. They came up with idea and found a woodcutter that carved out three rings, one for each side of the family, with the third ring being the center in two parts. It was a beautiful piece of work.

This is one of my very favorite moments of a wedding. The tradition of the "giving away".

After the ceremony we headed back out for some yummmmyyyy light

And we had about 1.6 minutes of it before the sun dipped low. It was absolutely breathtaking.

Back inside at the reception, Annabella and Marcus' vision was coming to life thanks to the unsurpassable talent of Katherine with Vale of Enna. She did everything flower related for the day and its was truly beautiful.

Annabella and Marcus, I wish you many many years of family traditions and gatherings. I wish you many quiet nights at home and many adventurous destinations to explore. I wish you many moments of sweet memories and reminders of the unusual love you share. Thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your wedding - it was truly an honor.
